Aromatherapy

I’ve turned to essential oils so many times over the years as an aid to stress, pain and insomnia.  I’m using them more than ever during these pandemic inside days.  So, I thought I would share some information on essential oils and how it could benefit you.

Essential Oils have been used for thousands of years in places like Egypt, China and India for medicinal and religious purposes. In recent years, as more and more people are looking for alternative ways to feel good, essential oils are once again being used.

Benefits of Essential Oils
  • Improve sleep
  • Bring a sense of calm
  • Soothe stiff joints
  • Reduce inflammation
  • Loosen chest congestion
  • Improve digestion
  • Boost immunity
  • Purify the air
  • Fight bacteria & viruses
It’s important that you purchase high quality organic essential oils that are considered therapeutic grade.  You don’t want to inhale impurities and pesticides that are in some brands.
How To Use Them

Just Smell– You can take a bottle and just smell the oil for a minute or so.  Using your sense of smell stimulates an area of the brain that controls your emotions.  So, if you need to feel more relaxed, or uplifted you can get that response by simply smelling it.

Diffusers– This is a great way to get the benefits from essential oils.  Using a diffuser can bring freshness into the air and as you breathe it in you are getting the benefits.  I like to use it while I sleep or in my office to help bring clarity to my mind.  It all depends on the type of oil you use.

Bath– This is my favorite place to use essential oils.  I add 15-20 drops of essential oil with 1 cup of Epson salt for a relaxing bath.

Cleaning products–  This is a great site to find some homemade cleaning solutions for your home.  https://www.homerev.com/blogs/home-revolution/9-essential-oils-for-cleaning

Safety Precautions

If you want to apply it to your skin, it’s very important that you dilute it with a carrier oil like coconut, avocado, or olive oil. You can also use your favorite skin lotion or cream if you like. If you don’t dilute it, you can have a sensitivity reaction, but you also risk systemic toxicity. Do a small skin test first to make sure you don’t have an allergic reaction to the oil. You should never ingest essential oil unless you know exactly what is in the oil and read all precautions first.

If you have any health conditions or are pregnant, ask your health care provider before using.
